In a recent article from SmartCompany, a South Australian air-conditioning business is being sued by a high-profile client, who claims one of the SME’s employees “cooked” his $312 000 wine collection. Principal of LegalVision, Catherine Logan, basically said that the claimant might be covered under Australian Consumer Law, however it might be difficult to prove the quality of wine before the air-conditioning supplier replaced the humidifier and the wine being exposed “high temperatures”. Ms Logan suggested “A key strategy in risk minimisation for small businesses in this area is to have good public liability insurance cover in place”.
